The “Intelligent School" Building

The IS Building is at the heart of information processing in at NUCB.

The internal network located in this building gives instant access to information, and enables communication between faculties, staff and students.

The IS Building, completed in 1988, is a high-tech structure which houses our computer labs and is the center for information management instruction.

An important feature of the IS Building is its capacity to revolutionize the methods and the contents of higher education, by turning receptive learning into productive learning, and by replacing the mere accumulation of knowledge with the acquisition of analytical and methodological techniques which will prepare our students for the challenges of the information age. This building hosts a wide variety of media-related educational activities.

Completed in 1998, the Center for Global Communications (CGC) is a symbol of continued effort to remain at the forefront of innovation and invention, and to grow and transform into a truly 21st century university.

The Central Information Center is a library complex equipped with the latest multimedia research instruments. The center holds over 220,000 books and valuable references. NUCB students and faculty members can access worldwide search engines to gather abundant research materials on campus.

The Nisshin Campus Dining Services (NCDS) offers a spacious, clean, and healthy environment that allows our students, staff, and faculty to enjoy a dynamic and nutritious dining experience.

The NCDS operates three (3) full-service dining facilities, a faculty lounge, a MOS Burger restaurant, and Hill's Mart (a convenience store). These dining halls and other services offer a number of a la carte, pre-paid meal cards and cash operations.



Fushimi Campus has three general multi-purpose lecture halls with microphones on each desk to provide an efficient discussion environment, one very large reception/lecture hall and two students' self-study rooms. Touch panel type controllers are installed in the platform of each lecture room controlling all aspects of the information systems and room management. In addition there are six seminar rooms in the building for group discussions of around 12 to 14 people. There are two screens and video projectors in the general lecture halls, and one screen, video projector and LNET (screen image forwarding system) in one lecture hall. There are two rooms for small-sized classes or workshops and 5 group study rooms. The campus also installs the newest media equipment, including projectors, large screens, printers, wireless network devices, etc.

A wireless network is accessible to all registered students and staff of the University and protected by a firewall security system. The WLAN covers Nagoya Fushimi Campus, as well as the classrooms in the other two campuses. There are 10 access points in the building (Apple AirMac Base Station).
