On May 13th, NUCB undergraduate and graduate exchange students had “rice planting” experience in Ena city in Gifu prefecture where is one of the most beautiful agricultural site in Japan. Although the rice farmers use machines for planting and harvesting in the present day, thank you for the kind cooperation by local farmers, the students had chance to see and experience traditional rice planting way which plants by hand. After having a short lecture from the farmers how to plant rice seeding efficiently, then started planting in the rice field with their bare feet.

NUCB continues to offer rice planting or harvesting activities for exchange students in order to provide experience of Japanese culture and interaction with local farmers and Japanese students.
