NUCB and AACSB International

AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is the professional association for college and university management education and the premier accrediting agency for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting.

In 2002, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business acquired AACSB International membership as only the third educational institution in Japan. NUCB has submitted the Self-Evaluation Report and achieved accreditation of its undergraduate and graduate programs in 2006.

AACSB International membership supports institutions and organizations in achieving its management education quality and continuous improvement goals. The accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. The association brings together collegiate management education administrators and faculty with business sector stakeholders to focus on the challenges affecting success within the global management education environment.

NUCB and efmd

NUCB was accepted as the first member from Japan to join the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) in June 2004.

Unlike AACSB International, the efmd accredits qualified members through its service branch, EQUIS. EQUIS accreditation would apply only to The NUCB Graduate School; whereas, AACSB International approves both the undergraduate and the graduate programs.

It is often referred to as the center of excellence for management education and development in Europe. It has provided a context and environment that leads to professional networking and bridges the divide between the academia and the world of business.

About EQUIS

Efmd runs the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). It is one of the leading international systems of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher educational institution in management and business administration. The primary objective of EQUIS, in connection with the efmd mission, is to raise the standard of management education. EQUIS assesses degree programs, their design and pedagogy, learning environment, all the activities, and sub-units of the institution as a whole. Institutions must be primarily devoted to management education.
