ENGLISH COMMUNICATION 3

講義概要

The aim of this course is to train our second year students how to become better communicators in English through encouraging them to think critically and thus succeed academically.
In this course, students are expected to improve their communication skills by acquiring a variety of intercultural communication skills and theories under the school’s mission to develop leaders who are equipped to succeed in the globalized business reality. This will be facilitated not only by means of the topics brought in discussion but also by means of the vast experience the instructors bring to the classroom.
The textbook’s question-centered approach provides a unique critical thinking framework for each unit developing key cognitive skills such as analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating – as well as developing the language skills essential for academic success. The reading and listening texts explore a wide range of academic subjects by means of which students develop important academic skills such as scanning a text, listening for gist, and using a dictionary. The research-based vocabulary program focuses on words from the Academic Word List and the Oxford 3000.
Students are supposed to have previously studied English Communication I and II during their first year. Therefore this course represents a continuation of what they studied in the previous year building on the skills they acquired during the past two semesters.
