Matteo, International School of Los Angeles
We interviewed Matteo who joined the Global BBA Program in Fall 2021 after taking the IBDP at the International School of Los Angeles (Lycée International de Los Angeles, LILA).
Matteo was born and raised in Los Angeles, California but attended a French school, growing up with both American and French cultures, holding dual nationality (France/USA).
Why did you want to study in Japan?
I have always loved to travel, so I wanted to use university as an opportunity to learn what I am passionate about and also to live abroad and experience a new culture. I have always been especially fascinated by the Japanese language and culture so the choice for me was clear.
What made you choose the Global BBA Program?
When I first pursued university programs in Japan, I wanted to make sure I would be genuinely passionate about my courses. Since NUCB offered a well-structured Global BBA program with a Case Study method, I was instantly sold. While the application procedure was very different from American universities, NUCB was very responsive and made the process smooth.
What is your impression of the Case Study method?
In high school, I studied the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) program which gave me a basic idea of the Case Study method. I believe the Case Study method is really important because it gives students the ability to use what they have learned in real-life examples. The Case Study method is also a lot more interesting and cognitive than simply looking at theories or meaningless numbers.
Are you part of any clubs or language exchange?
I have not yet joined a club but have taken part in the language exchange. It has been really interesting because not only have I been able to improve my Japanese, I have also learned a lot about Japanese culture through my partner. It has also been a great way to make new friends.
