Isabella, Argentina
Isabella, Argentina(International School of Samui, Thailand)
Isabella (Bella), enrolled in the Global BBA Program at NUCB in the fall of 2022 after completing her A-Levels at the International School of Samui in Thailand. Bella's international background has taken her to various countries, such as Costa Rica, the USA, Scotland, the UAE, South Korea, and Thailand. We caught up with her to learn more about her experience so far.
Why did you choose NUCB?
When it came to choosing a university, Japan was always at the top of my list. Known for creating some of the world's top businesses and offering high-quality education at a reasonable cost compared to other countries, it seemed like the perfect fit. Plus, I wanted to be close to my parents who were staying in Thailand at the time.
Business was the obvious choice for my degree as it offers flexibility in terms of career paths and post-graduate studies. During the pandemic, I attended a virtual university fair where I discovered NUCB, one of the top business schools in the world. I participated in various information sessions and mock case method lessons, and was impressed by what I saw.
What attracted me the most to NUCB was their integration of international students into the campus and facilities. It didn't feel like an afterthought; instead, it was a priority. I knew I had found the right place to pursue my academic and personal goals.
What is one thing about NUCB that surprised you the most after enrolling?
At first glance, it may seem that the Global BBA has a primarily international community with students hailing from all over the world. However, I've been pleasantly surprised by the opportunities to interact with Japanese students on campus who are studying in other faculties.
Through the language exchange program, I've had the pleasure of partnering with Mikoto who supports me with my Japanese language skills including vocabulary and tenses. In addition, I frequently visit the CIC (SAC) where I've had the chance to speak with Japanese students who are interested in making international friends.
Off-campus, we participate in a variety of activities together. I appreciate the opportunity to build relationships with Japanese students and gain a deeper understanding of their culture. It's been a truly enriching experience, and I'm grateful for it.
How have you adapted to the case method of learning?
During my time in high school, I participated in a lot of extracurricular activities that have proven to be beneficial to me now at NUCB. One of the most significant was debating, which helped me improve my public speaking skills tremendously.
I really enjoy learning through case studies and participating in class discussions. These activities allowed me to engage with my peers and professors, learn from different perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of the topics we are covering.
