NUCB's 34th English Speech Contest

NUCB's English Speech Contest was held on Wednesday, July 3rd at the Nisshin Campus, attracting a total of 183 participants and spectators. This year marks the 34th anniversary of the contest, where representatives from the first, second, and third-year classes of the International Studies faculty, as well as voluntary participants from various faculties and academic years, competed in English speech and presentation skills.
Thirteen contestants, from a variety of faculties, utilized the 4-minute time limit to deliver original speeches based on their own experiences. A second-year student from the International Studies faculty won first place with a speech titled "Good Things About Friends and Family Staying Together," which expressed heartfelt sentiments towards their family living far away. The speech was highly praised for its content, expressive delivery, and dynamic use of the stage.
Each contestant was assigned a faculty advisor and practiced their speeches under their guidance for about two months. The students not only improved their English pronunciation but also enhanced their presentation skills, including intonation and natural gestures. The experience of rehearsing repeatedly, making improvements, and mastering their speeches will undoubtedly be beneficial in their future careers.
Additionally, during the contest break, a third-year student from the School of International Studies shared their study abroad program experience. This presentation provided the audience with a valuable opportunity to see how daily English learning can lead to participation in such contests and studying abroad.
