A new version of NUCB's Language Exchange Program has come to life. We are excited to introduce a new initiative aimed at enriching the cultural and linguistic experience for our students – the Language Exchange+. This innovative program is designed to bring together first-year Japanese students from the International Studies faculty and international students from the Global BBA program. The goal is to foster mutual cultural understanding and enhance language skills in an engaging and interactive setting.
The Language Exchange+ is a carefully structured initiative that leverages the Self Access Center (SAC) to create meaningful interactions among students. The program spans approximately two to three weeks for each project and is scheduled throughout the academic year.
Students meet during their designated SAC periods: Monday during the 4th period, Wednesday during the 3rd period, and Thursday during the 3rd period.
One of the exciting activities planned for Week 5 in May was the Kokedama Workshop. For those unfamiliar, Kokedama, which translates to "moss ball" in English, is a traditional Japanese art form involving creating and displaying plant root balls covered with moss. It’s a beautiful blend of gardening and art, resulting in unique, living decorations that can be hung or placed in decorative trays.
We are thrilled about the Language Exchange+ and the diverse activities it includes. By participating, students not only improve their language proficiency but also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
We encourage all first-year students in the International Studies faculty and the GBBA Program to make the most out of this enriching experience. Let's make learning a global adventure!
