At present, NUCB Undergraduate School has extended a warm welcome to 115 new international students hailing from 58 different countries and regions. On Wednesday, October 18th we gave our students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Japanese calligraphy. This event drew participation from 44 international students and 19 Japanese students who were eager to join in the experience.

At the beginning of the event, participants learned how to write "tome" and "harai" in Japanese calligraphy. The students practiced the basic skills over and over again, showing their will to create works of art with beautiful characters, making the event seem like a real calligraphy class and not just an event. The Japanese students who helped with the event enjoyed interacting with the international students.

Reflecting on the calligraphy experience, one of the international students shared, 'I thoroughly enjoyed the calligraphy session. I'm keen on purchasing my own set of calligraphy tools to continue practicing.'  Another participant expressed, 'This event exceeded my expectations and turned out to be the best experience I've had in Japan so far.' And a fellow foreign student echoed the sentiment, saying, 'It was the best experience I've had in Japan to date.' Following the event, the international students were delighted to receive their calligraphy creations as souvenirs, taking many of them home.
