An Academic Introduction to Australia: Traveling and Studying
Set in cities, tourist destinations, and remote areas scattered across the vast country of Australia, this exhibition presents a multilayered and multifaceted portrait of Australia by focusing on the people who live there, the things that come and go, and the events that occur there. It also positions Australia as a broad region that includes Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, and asks us to reconsider existing regional concepts that are divided by national borders.
The first part of the book unravels Australia's history and human interaction from the perspective of the sea. The second part depicts a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural Australia, focusing on the spaces created by people of different cultural backgrounds, as well as on art, literature and sport. The third part will focus on Australia's experience of war.
