Welcoming Diversity: The Opening of Hiroshi Hall at NUCB

With the Fall 2024 semester commencing just last month, NUCB welcomed students into our newest dormitory, Hiroshi Hall. This year, 47 students from a wide range of backgrounds have moved in, each bringing their own unique experiences and perspectives. This diversity adds to our community, creating an environment where students can learn from one another and embrace different cultures.
Facilities
Hiroshi Hall (for short term exchange students) has been thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable living space for students. The dormitory includes modern facilities aimed at making daily life easier and more enjoyable. The dormitory is located on campus, meaning students have great access to on-campus facilities from just a stones throw away. Hiroshi Hall is exclusively for one-semester exchange students.
The dorm common areas are spacious, giving students room to gather and socialize. These spaces are intended to bring people together in a relaxed setting, whether it’s to share a meal, unwind after classes, or simply catch up with friends. For students looking for a quieter place to focus on their studies, dedicated study lounges are available. The kitchen in the dorm is fully equipped, offering residents the chance to prepare their own meals
The layout and amenities of Hiroshi Hall have been planned to support both the social and academic needs of the students, making it a well-rounded living space.

Rooms
The rooms at Hiroshi Hall are designed with comfort and practicality in mind, housing 2 to 3 students per room. Each room provides enough space for students to live comfortably while sharing with others, making it a good balance between privacy and community living.
Every bed comes with its own personal safe, allowing students to securely store their valuables. There’s also a storage area beneath each bed, offering extra space for belongings without cluttering the room. This setup helps students keep their personal items organized and their living space tidy.
In addition to the main common area on the first floor, Hiroshi Hall offers two smaller common areas that students can freely use. One of these spaces is exclusively for female residents, providing extra privacy for those who prefer it. The female section of the dormitory is also separated from the main entrance, allowing for added discretion when entering or leaving the building.
Additional Amenities
Hiroshi Hall offers more than just living spaces. Students can take advantage of the free bicycle rental service, making it easy to explore the surrounding area or commute to campus. Additionally, the dormitory features a traditional tea ceremony room with tatami flooring, providing a unique cultural experience right at their doorstep.
NUCB is also planning to further expand the amenities at Hiroshi Hall, continually improving the facilities to ensure a comfortable and enriching living environment for all students.
