Spring 2025 Welcome Party

NEW #WelcomeParty #Global BBA #International Students

On the evening of April 24, 2025, NUCB hosted a welcome party to celebrate the arrival of new international students and to provide an opportunity for interaction with first-year students from the Faculty of International Studies.

This semester, NUCB welcomed 94 new international students. The event also brought together approximately 80 Japanese students, creating an opportunity for meaningful cross-cultural interactions. Students were assigned to different tables, and although many met for the first time, they actively engaged in conversations in both English and Japanese, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and curiosity.

Kicking Off with Inspiring Speeches and a Buffet

The party commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dr. Kenji Yokoyama, Dean for External Relations, and Yuka Kojima, a new student in the Global BBA Program.
Following the speeches, students enjoyed a buffet-style meal that featured a variety of options, including pizza, sushi, sandwiches, and chips. Special dietary needs were also considered, with options available for Halal and vegan students, ensuring that everyone could fully enjoy the offerings.

Sharing Cultures and Traditions

Midway through the party, some international students, dressed in traditional clothing from their home countries, took the opportunity to introduce their cultures and attire. They also taught the audience how to say "thank you" in their native languages, and the audience responded warmly by repeating the phrases, creating a wonderful and inclusive atmosphere.

A Memorable Start at NUCB

At the conclusion of the party, everyone opened a fortune cookie given to them individually, sharing the Japanese messages inside and helping each other with translations.
The welcome party provided an excellent opportunity for students and faculty members to connect in a relaxed and supportive setting, making it a memorable beginning for our new international students at NUCB.
