Cultural Enrichment Activities - Fall 2025 Chigusa High School Visit

#Cultural Event #Global BBA #International Students

NUCB GBBA and exchange students visited Chigusa High School in Meito Ward, Nagoya, on November 11th to participate in an event focusing on social issues.

Eleven students from ten countries — Bangladesh, the Philippines, Macau, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Lithuania, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan — from the NUCB GBBA program and exchange programs participated in the Chigusa High School event on November 11. Students from four other universities in Aichi Prefecture also joined the event, creating a wonderful opportunity to promote friendship among participants.

International Students Connect with Chigusa High School Through Cultural Exchange and Dialogue

They began the event with self-introductions, and some students impressed everyone by introducing themselves entirely in Japanese! After that, they had a discussion on various social issues such as gender equality and welfare gaps in their countries. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear real-world perspectives directly from the students.

After that, group discussions were held on the topic of animal rights. Chigusa High School had kindly prepared pre-event worksheets for NUCB students, allowing them plenty of time to research and prepare in advance. The discussions mainly focused on animal rights issues related to pet shops and zoos in both Japan and the students’ home countries, as well as on the recent bear attacks that have occurred across Japan.

During the break, the students had the opportunity to explore the high school campus, where they observed club activities and after-school cleaning—typical aspects of Japanese school life. They were very excited to experience what everyday life is like for Japanese high school students!

The students summarized their thoughts on large sheets of paper and gave short presentations to share their opinions. It was quite a challenge to condense their discussions, so they even had to extend the time a little! Still, everyone enjoyed working together to create one big paper. At one point, some markers splashed ink on them, and the room filled with laughter and cheerful screams.

Thanks to Chigusa High School, NUCB GBBA and exchange students were able to experience Japanese high school life firsthand and strengthen friendships with both high school students and other university students in the area.
