MEXT Approved Program for Mathematics, Data Science and AI Smart Higher Education

As a result of our efforts in Mathematics and Data Science Education, NUCB Undergraduate School has been certificated in MDASH (Approved Program for Mathematics, Data Science and AI Smart Higher Education)- Literacy by MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) on August 4, 2021.

MDASH: Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Smart Higher Education

With the aim of achieving the goal "all humanities and science students of universities and colleges of technology should master introductory-level mathematics, data science and AI in their schools," the Cabinet Office, MEXT, and METI have established a system for certifying programs of excellence in mathematics, data science and AI education which count as credits for graduation from universities. The certification was introduced in 2021, and our school is the only university in Central Japan (in the field of Economics and Management) to be approved.

Features of the Data Science Program

Data science can be defined as a blend of mathematics, business acumen, tools, algorithms and machine learning techniques, all of which help us in finding out the hidden insights or patterns from raw data which can be of major use in the formation of big business decisions.

This program (in Japanese) is designed for students to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to create value from data, and to deepen their understanding of the use of data in the real world. Students will systematically take courses in basic mathematics, statistics, management science, programming, and AI-related subjects, while cultivating the ability to utilize information technology in management.

Students who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion, and will also be able to obtain related qualifications (IT Passport, Information Technology Engineer Examination, G-test, etc.) while continuing to enhance their expertise in data science through seminars.

NUCB - Frontier of International Education

Since its foundation in 1953, Nagoya University of Commerce & Business has been at the forefront of international education. In addition, The NUCB Business School, Graduate School of Management is ranked number one in Japan for all degree programs (EMBA, MBA, MSc) in the global QS rankings (as of 2021).
