For Current Students

Lending Policies

The circulation counter is located on the 2nd floor of the library. Those with a valid student ID may check-out materials. Affiliated institutions and special permissions may apply.

*Loan periods for reserve items may differ. Items that have had requests placed on them during a loan period cannot be renewed. Overdue items cannot be renewed.

Long-term Loan Conditions

Special long term loan conditions apply for summer, winter, and spring vacation periods as well as for those writing graduation or master's theses. Please inquire within.


Items are to be returned to the 2nd floor circulation counter or the outdoor drop-box located by the front entrance door.

Non-circulating Materials

  • Reference materials
  • Weekly magazines can be checked out 1 week from the date of acceptance, other magazines can be checked out for 2 weeks
  • Newspapers
  • Graduation theses
  • Audiovisual materials

Late Penalties

A late fee of 10 yen per book will be charged per day past the due date. Late returns for magazines will result in a loss of circulation privileges for half a year. Those with overdue materials cannot borrow or renew any items.

Return box

There is a drop-box located by the front entrance for after-hours returns. Please return overdue materials to the 2nd floor circulation counter during operating hours.


Requests can be placed for items that are out on loan and an email notification will sent upon their return. Requested items will be held behind the circulation counter for 1 week. It also possible to recall items that are on long-term loan for short-term period of 1 week. Please inquiry within.

Requests for Purchase

 Please send requests to purchase items to [joho @ nucba. ac. jp] (Please remove spaces which have been set in the email address for security purposes when sending.) A form is also available in the library.

For Faculty and Staff


Up to 99 books, and up to 10 magazines (or one 1 vol. of of bound magazine) can be checked out at the circulation counter located on the 2nd floor of the library with a valid ID.


Return dates will stamped on the library slip inside the items at the circulation counter.

* Reference materials, microfilm, and newspapers are non-circulating.

About Update

Please inform library staff of change of place of residence.

For reservation

Requests can be placed on items that are on loan and an email will be sent upon return of the requested item.


Items on long-term loan can be recalled. Recalled items will be held behind the circulation counter for 1 week and the loan period is 1 week.

About ordering (purchase request)

"To request books for purchase. The deadline to request books for research is November 30th and is strictly enforced. To request the purchase of any other materials please inquiry within or follow this link

For All Others


Graduates of the university may check-out materials and use the library facilities after filling out a form.

For other Universities / Research Institutions

Please fill out the "Material Usage Request Form" and present a valid "ID Card" issued by said library or institution. Those from institutions that are members of the Tokai Area University Library Association need not fill out a form. Only a valid ID card is necessary.

It is possible for those from member institutions to have requested items held behind the circulation counter. Please contact the library in advance for such a request. Inter-library loans are also possible. Please send requests for an inter-library loan via home institution.
