Beijing Foreign Studies University is the top foreign language and international studies university in China. BFSU takes pride in its contacts with the Party Central Committee and such Chinese leaders as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. BFSU has been China's principal base offering foreign language training. BFSU was affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from its establishment to the early 1980s and is now a key university under the Ministry of Education. NUCB students study abroad at this institution to strengthen their languages skills, as part of the Frontier Spirit Program.
