Regional Revitalization Field Project Presentation
On July 13, the School of Commerce at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB) held its Regional Revitalization Field Project Presentation on the Nisshin Campus. Drawing on the expertise accumulated through prior field activities led by Professor Masahiko Kamekura’s seminar, students presented forward-looking, large-scale project concepts for regional engagement.
This year (2022) marks the opening of Ghibli Park, and next year (2023) the NHK historical drama “Dōsuru Ieyasu” will be broadcast, creating a major opportunity that involves the entire Aichi region. Students presented their proposals under three themes:
- SDGs initiatives in Moricoro Park
- SDGs initiatives in the Oku-Mikawa (Higashi-Mikawa) region
- SDGs initiatives at Nisshin Roadside Station (scheduled to open next year)
While these initiatives are currently like three small saplings, the students envision them growing together into one strong, flourishing tree in the future.
Human Resource Development Program Supporting a Knowledge-Intensive Society
In the fall of 2021, the School of Commerce at NUCB was selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Human Resource Development Program Supporting a Knowledge-Intensive Society — Menu III: Intensive Education Program.”
Building on its well-established Case Method, the School has taken on the new challenge of the Field Method, which emphasizes real-world, off-campus learning experiences that contribute to both local communities and industries.
This presentation served as an opportunity to explore, together with stakeholders, ways to ensure the sustainability and long-term development of these initiatives beyond the four-year project period. The continued field-based efforts of NUCB’s School of Commerce students are highly anticipated.
