“Encouraging Visitors of Ghibli Park to Explore Other Tourist Destinations” — NUCB Students Produce Promotional Video (Aired on NHK, July 13)
Within the Intensive Education Program offered by the School of Commerce, Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB) provides high-quality, active learning through the effective combination of the “Case Method” (learning through discussion) and the “Field Method” (learning through experience). One of these initiatives is the “Field Practice” course taught by Professor Masahiko Kamekura, which has collaborated with local governments and companies since last year to produce videos that showcase the appeal of local communities.
This year, the School of Commerce’s “Field Practice” course was featured and broadcast on NHK. In collaboration with the municipal government and local businesses of Shinshiro City, students worked on creating a video designed to encourage visitors to Ghibli Park to also visit Shinshiro, where they can experience the kind of nature that appears in Ghibli films. This project was covered by NHK and aired on July 13, 2023.
Intensive Education Program
The Intensive Education Program for second-year commerce students offers practical, hands-on learning experiences. This year’s theme focuses on producing corporate PR videos, and students study intensively over two months (June–July) subjects such as video production techniques, interviewing and communication skills, marketing strategy, and consumer behavior.
In the latter half of the course, students participate in internships with municipalities and companies—including those in Shinshiro City and Seto City—to gain valuable workplace experience beyond the classroom. By listening to the voices of people on-site and translating those insights into compelling promotional videos, students contribute to revitalizing local communities through creative and practical engagement.
