The final round of the 3rd Business Plan Contest, organized by the School of Commerce at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB), was held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Eight teams, including international students, delivered passionate presentations. The event was filled with energy as observing students offered enthusiastic feedback to help improve the business plans, while judges posed questions from a real-world business perspective, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

The Grand Prize was awarded to Kōto Hoshino, a third-year student in the Faculty of Management, for the project “Altenia – An Indoor Theme Park Offering Job Experience Opportunities for the Elderly to Discover a Brighter Future.”
In his review, Professor Yasutomi Kitahara of the NUCB Business School remarked:

“Transforming social value into economic value is extremely difficult. Yet, that difficulty itself represents the space and worth of your ideas. I hope you will overcome those challenges and realize your concepts as models of social business.”

About the NUCB Business Plan Contest

The Business Plan Contest is organized by the School of Commerce at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business.
In its third year, the contest received 20 team entries, from which eight finalists were selected after the preliminary round. The winners of each award were determined based on their final presentations.

At the NUCB School of Commerce, the “Case Method (Discussion)” and the “Field Method (Experience)” serve as two core pillars of education. By combining these approaches intensively and synergistically, the School provides innovative learning opportunities and cultivates leaders capable of responding to the needs of both industry and local communities. This contest represents the “experiential” component of that educational philosophy.
