#事業構想専攻 #インテンシブ教育プログラム #Intensive Program

The final round of the 4th Business Plan Contest was held on Wednesday, December 14, 2024. This year, the contest welcomed a distinguished panel of judges: Mr. Hirotaka Kondō, Mayor of Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture; Ms. Ayano Tsuruta, CEO of Donguri Pit LLC; Ms. Taeko Doughty, President of HB International Co., Ltd.; Mr. Shōji Mase, President of the NUCB Alumni Association; and Professor Yasutomi Kitahara of the NUCB Graduate School. The competition took place in a solemn yet highly engaging atmosphere.

Eight teams delivered passionate and creative presentations. Among the finalists, two teams consisted of first-year students, which inspired the audience. Observing students eagerly asked questions to help improve the proposed business plans, while the judges offered insights from a practical business perspective, resulting in lively and meaningful discussions. The presenting students responded sincerely to questions and learned valuable lessons on the perspectives and actions necessary to bring their ideas to life.

The Grand Prize was awarded to “SentrySpace,” a team of second-year Global BBA students. In his comments, Professor Kitahara of the NUCB Graduate School said, “There are two crucial elements in launching and sustaining a business: one is flexibility—ensuring your business is accepted by others; the other is conviction—believing in the value of your own ideas. From all the presentations in the final round, I could sense a strong conviction in the students’ ideas.” His words served as powerful encouragement to the participants.

At the NUCB School of Commerce, Intensive Program courses are offered from the first through the third year. Through the first-year course ‘Field Basics’ and the second-year course ‘Field Practice,’ students acquire and deepen knowledge through real-world experiences, culminating in the third-year course ‘Business Design Practice,’ where they develop business plans. Many of the plans selected for this year’s final round originated from these courses.

NUCB Business Plan Contest

The Business Plan Contest is hosted by the School of Commerce at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB), with sponsorship from the NUCB Alumni Association, the NUCB Parents’ Association, and Nihon Keiei Co., Ltd. Now in its fourth year, the contest began with 30 team entries, from which eight teams advanced to the final round after the preliminary screening. The final presentations determined the winners of each award.

At NUCB’s School of Commerce, the “Case Method (Discussion)” and “Field Method (Experience)” serve as two complementary pillars of education. By combining them intensively and synergistically, the School cultivates leaders who can respond effectively to the needs of industry and local communities. This contest represents the culmination of this approach—“designing business through field experience.”
