Cultural Enrichment Activities - Spring 2025 Judo Experience

On Tuesday, April 15, international students had the unique opportunity to try Judo — many for the very first time — as part of our Cultural Enrichment Activities program.

The session was held during the NUCB Judo Club’s regular practice, and we were warmly welcomed by Coach Kimura and the club members. The goal of the event was to introduce students to the basics of Judo, while providing a fun and memorable cultural experience.
The activity began with learning how to properly bow, a fundamental gesture in Judo that reflects respect and discipline. Students were then treated to a demonstration by experienced Judo Club members, showcasing various techniques and movements.

Hands-On Practice in Judogi

Some students also had the chance to wear a judogi (Judo uniform), and participated in hands-on practice. With guidance from Coach Kimura and the club members, they learned how to perform groundwork techniques (ne-waza), and even experienced being gently thrown one by one — a true highlight for many!

A Memorable Cultural Experience

Toward the end of the session, they also practiced breakfall techniques (ukemi), which can help protect the body during falls, even in everyday situations.

For many students, this was their very first encounter with Judo and Japanese martial arts. The experience made a strong impression, and we received many enthusiastic comments afterward — with several students expressing a desire to join again and deepen their understanding of Judo. We are grateful to Coach Kimura and the members of the NUCB Judo Club for making this activity so special.

Global BBA Program

The Global BBA program at NUCB is designed for students looking to gain a strong foundation in business with a global perspective.
