Cultural Enrichment Activities - Fall 2025 Nisshin High School Visit
On December 19, NUCB Global BBA (GBBA) students visited Aichi Prefectural Nisshin High School, located just across the street from NUCB in Nisshin City, and participated in a class of the International Communication Course.
Five NUCB GBBA students from five countries—Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Russia, and the United States—took part in this visit. The students walked together from NUCB to Nisshin High School, viewing the NUCB campus from a different angle. They found it interesting and realized that this is the view high school students see every day.
The visit was divided into two main parts: self-introductions and a Q&A session, and presentations by high school students on world foods, followed by questions from NUCB students.
Although the high school students appeared shy at first, they gradually relaxed and were able to enjoy lively conversations with the NUCB students.
Part 1 : Self-Introduction and Questions
NUCB students participated in classes with second- and third-year International Communication Course students. First, NUCB students introduced themselves in English, followed by introductions from the high school students.
After the introductions, high school students asked NUCB students various questions, such as their reasons for coming to Japan, recommended places in their home countries, favorite artists, favorite foods, and favorite anime. The topic of anime, in particular, generated a lot of excitement and laughter, helping students connect beyond language and nationality.
Part 2: Presentations and Q&A
In the second half of the class, third-year International Communication Course students gave presentations on world cuisines, including foods from France, Germany, Brazil, Russia, Korea, and other countries.
Because the class size was small, presentations were conducted individually. Each high school student presented while an NUCB student sat next to them, listening and asking questions afterward. Students rotated every seven minutes, and this process was repeated five times. Since the topic focused on food, many NUCB students commented that the presentations made them hungry.
The ALT teacher supported the high school students by moving around the classroom and assisting with their English, creating a supportive learning environment where students could enjoy communicating with international students.
During Break Time and After Class
During the break, NUCB students were invited to join a campus tour, while some students chose to stay in the classroom to continue conversations in English.
After class, a Nisshin High School teacher kindly guided NUCB students around the campus once again during cleaning time. NUCB students were fascinated to see students cleaning the school themselves, including areas such as hallways and restrooms.
NUCB students shared impressions such as, “The school bell was so cool,” “It was just like what I’ve seen on TV and in anime,” and “I want to eat a bento on the rooftop like in anime.” These comments showed their strong interest in Japanese high school life.
Thanks to the teachers and students of Nisshin High School, NUCB international students were able to experience authentic Japanese high school life, just as they had imagined from television and anime. This visit provided a valuable opportunity for both NUCB and Nisshin High School students to communicate in English while learning not only the language, but also each other’s cultures.
