In July 2021, NUCB welcomed Dr. Mayumi Terano (Co-Director of Project Management Unit for Egypt-Japan Education Partnership (EJEP) - Affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research as the JICA Expert) to our Schools to discuss the E-JUST and J-MENA projects and arrange a meeting with the Egypt Embassy Cultural Attaché.

With NUCB Business School working closely with JICA for accepting students for Master's Degrees for the African Business Education Initiative for Youth (ABE Initiative) and NUCB Undergraduate School collaborating with Kyushu University for the J-MENA project to bring more students from the Middle East and African regions, we are excited to have concluded an agreement with JICA/E-JUST to bring students from Egypt to NUCB on short-term programs.

With this agreement signed, we join a host of other top universities in Japan supporting the project; Hokkaido University, Keio University, Ritsumeikan University, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), Tohoku University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nagoya University, Osaka University, University of Tsukuba, and Hiroshima University.

In the Fall of 2022, we welcomed our first batch of students and caught up with Radwa to learn about her experience so far.

NUCB and the Global BBA Program was the right fit for me

I have always liked Japan and consider the universities here the best in the world. I knew when I applied to my university in Egypt, E-JUST, that there would be a chance for a scholarship to study in Japan. There are other exchange agreements, but I chose NUCB because I researched the university extensively after Professor Ricardo Lim visited us in Egypt and I also met Professor Dean Kenji Yokoyama for a Zoom Session which made me certain that the Global BBA Program was right for me. I was fortunate to receive an Egyptian government scholarship to come here as an exchange student for a year, and my university, E-JUST, facilitated the process for me. It is a fully funded scholarship covering flights and living expenses.

It is hard to pick a favorite class as I have enjoyed all of them, particularly with Professors Hakeem, May May Ho and Ray Hui because of the experience of using cases and the projects we did. Finally, I am so happy that the Nisshin Campus has a prayer room for us. I have used it many times, and I like that I get to have my privacy to pray freely. Whilst it is much harder to find Halal food in Japan compared to my home country, Marah from Libya has helped me so much with where to find shops during my stay including Osu district and online shopping.

Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)

Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) was established in 2009 in Alexandria, Egypt, as a project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments for the purpose of having a long standing partnership between the two countries to promote human development in the region and worldwide.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a governmental agency that delivers the bulk of Official Development Assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan. It is chartered with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and the promotion of international cooperation.

JICA fully supports EJUST by sending their administrative and academic experts to assist and guide in the technical and managerial system of the university, as well as sending academic experts from the Japanese Supporting University Consortium (JSUC) to support in teaching, conducting joint research and co-supervising graduate students.
