NUCB approved for CIS Membership

We are pleased to announce that we have been approved to be a member university of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

The CIS membership community is a highly collaborative global network of higher education institutions, and primary and secondary international schools committed to promoting internationalism and interculturalism in education. Members of CIS are characterized by a pursuit of high standards in leadership and global citizenship.

This membership community consists of over 735 schools and over 610 universities. In Japan, the following are members;

  • Doshisha University
  • International Christian University
  • Nagoya University
  • Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University
  • Ritsumeikan University
  • Temple University, Japan Campus
  • Yamanashi Gakuin University: International College of Liberal Arts.

This will allow our admissions team to engage and enrich our network of CIS accredited high schools and attract global talent to our campus.

To be considered for CIS membership, institutions must:

  • provide evidence that supports an institution's commitment to international education, global citizenship, and delivering programs and services to international students
  • have the power to award their own degrees
  • hold university-level accreditation by a US regional accrediting organization, or hold official university-level recognition by the ministry of education in the country where the institution is located
  • agree to support and uphold the CIS Code of Ethics and the Guiding Principles for Higher Education
  • provide evidence that supports an institution's commitment to international education, global citizenship, and delivering programs and services to international students
