Tokumasa Chano, who graduated from our university last year, has been selected for the Orix Buffaloes' opening day lineup.

Since joining the team in November last year, he has continued to impress in the opening games and has been registered under control in just four months.

A Registration of players under control (支配下選手登録, Shihaika Sensyu Touroku) is the process of notifying Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) that a professional baseball team affiliated with the NPB has the exclusive right to sign a contract with a specific player.

Chano was drafted by Orix Buffaloes last October in the 4th round of development.

Chano made his official game debut in the summer of his third year in high school and contributed to second place in the Gifu Prefecture tournament. After he entered NUCB, he became a regular player in the fall of his first year.

He was one of the best hitters in the Aichi 2nd division league. After graduating, he went to the Tokushima Indigo Socks and participated in 59 games from the first year, marking a batting average of .316 (177 runs, 56 hits ), 2 home runs, 37 stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .424, earning him the lead hitter.

His extremely high potential was highly rated, and he became a professional player to watch immediatley.
