We interviewed Fatima, who joined the Global BBA Program in 2021 after taking the IBDP at Nazarbayev Intellectual School Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
Why did you choose Japan to further your studies?
I have always dreamed of attending a Japanese university and building my career there. I learned about Japanese culture through history and art classes in middle school and as a result I began taking Japanese language classes at the age of 11.
Are you part of any clubs at NUCB?
I'm part of the NUCB Art club, which is popular among Japanese students. Although my Japanese skills are not perfect, I'm trying my best to talk to my club members as much as possible and get involved in club activities more. In fact, in a few weeks, we are preparing our first exhibition for this term. I can't wait to see the artwork of my other club members!
What has been your favorite class so far and why?
I'm about to finish my first year at NUCB on the Global BBA Program, and so far The Design Thinking course by Professor Goi has been the most interesting for me. As a creative person, it is hard to do calculations and stick to logic to find a solution, however, Design Thinking is not about rules, it's about the abstract and unusual understanding of the issue.
What do you think of the diversity of NUCB - students and professors?
The environment at NUCB allows many students to interact with each other inside and outside of the classroom. We do group discussions, chitchat in the cafeteria, gather in the dormitories, have fun at parties and study with students from around the world.
On top of that, the events organized by the University administration provide the opportunity for students to talk to professors who might have the same cultural background as them. The only thing I wish for is more people from the CIS countries!
