Nagoya University of Commerce, Vol. 38, No. 2

1945 marked the 20th anniversary of the inception of our institution. It is my deep honor to present to you the first volume of this publication to you.
Nagoya, as it is situated between Tokyo and Osaka in the vast planes of central Japan, has experienced the fruits of industrial culture in the past fifty years making remarkable contributions to the development of the Japanese economy.
Nagoya was selected as the location of our school in order to contribute to the local culture and economy as well as make a contribution to the profession education to the community. It has been a difficult road but our successes are a result of our efforts. In spite of the odds and through the support of the region, we have been able to respond to social and economic changes, the demands of time, and changing trends. In doing so, we have expanded our offerings to include programming for four year co-education degree programming.
In fact, there are some schools that have a mission like ours, where an educator can stand alone on the pulpit, stand on their own research, and be cut off from actual society, but at our university, we focus on the practical application of learning from its inception. We also invite guest speakers who are playing an active role in the front lines of the business world every week to set up an extracurricular course to explain the realities of corporate management with the purpose of deepening the findings of professors and students on issues that occur in the economic world.
The eighteen volumes contained with are a compilation of a research conducted by professors who belong to our university. I hope that it will serve as a guideline for theoretical development of practical use in the real world and at the same time receive constructive criticism which will thereby foster the culture of our university.
