Learning the Language for Learning English
国際学部 Stuart Warrington
This lesson aims to introduce prospective students to the language necessary to function and learn more about English in English. It will specifically involve encouraging and guiding students to critically think about and link what to say or ask with certain learning situations. This will be accomplished via student-centred tasks of both a productive (writing and speaking) and receptive (reading and listening) nature. Prospective students should bring and be prepared to use their smart phone in this lesson.
This class is designed for a low to intermediate level of English, with an emphasis of having fun with the language.
In this lesson we will explore the world of humor. We will look at synonyms, (different words which have the same meaning). We will look at examples of funny sketches and scenes for discussion.
We will also listen to an excerpt from a radio program on the famous comedy movie actor: Jackie Chan
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to share funny stories and jokes, using verbs in simple present tense, with pauses, eye contact and tone of voice to enhance their speaking skills.
