Thi Han (Greege) joined the Global BBA Program at NUCB in 2023 after transferring to the 2nd year from SIM Global Education, Singapore.
With a strong passion for entrepreneurship and strategic innovation, Greege is taking full advantage of his international journey by participating in an exchange program at Bocconi University in Italy.
Why did you want to study abroad on exchange?
I’ve always been curious about how business is done in different parts of the world, especially in Europe. Bocconi is renowned for its international reputation, and studying here seemed like a great opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture while learning from some of the best in the business. Additionally, I’ve always been passionate about fashion, and Bocconi’s specialized courses, like the Entrepreneurship and Strategic Innovation in Fashion Industry class, really drew me in. It was the perfect opportunity to expand my academic and cultural horizons.
What is life like at Bocconi?
Living in Italy has been a dream come true. Milan is a city that blends history and modernity beautifully, with stunning architecture, world-class museums, and a food culture that’s simply unbeatable. The campus at Bocconi is diverse, with students from all over the world, creating an environment where different perspectives thrive. The professors are experts in their fields, and the classes challenge you to think critically and apply business concepts creatively.
What was one of the most eye-opening experiences you had during your time abroad?
One of the most eye-opening experiences was in my Entrepreneurship and Strategic Innovation in Fashion Industry class, where we had to create a brand and company from scratch. I worked with a diverse team of six people, including two exchange students and three full-time Bocconi students. At first, it was a challenge to align our ideas since we all had different views on what a "new" company should be. Some of us wanted to focus on technology, while others were more interested in social impact and sustainability. This experience really taught me the importance of flexibility and communication. Instead of forcing my ideas, I took the time to listen to my teammates and understood how their cultural backgrounds influenced their perspectives.
What have you enjoyed the most so far?
What I’ve enjoyed the most is the combination of academic challenges and cultural immersion. From exploring Milan’s historic sites to participating in local events, every day has been an opportunity to learn something new. I’ve also really enjoyed the chance to network with people from all over the world and get involved in activities outside of class.
How did the experience help you grow personally or academically? Any message to students who are considering studying abroad?
My exchange experience has helped me become more adaptable and open-minded. Living in a new country and working with people from different backgrounds has really challenged my perspectives. It’s also helped me become more independent and resourceful, learning how to navigate new systems, cultures, and challenges on my own.
