Please introduce yourself
My name is Rita. I am a second year student at NOVA School of Business and Economics in Lisbon, Portugal, and am currently completing my exchange semester at NUCB. I am very passionate about my education, and a very curious person that will ask questions about everything and anything.
Why did you want to study in Japan?
There are many reasons as to why I chose Japan as the country in which I would spend my exchange semester. Firstly, it is quite far from home and I wanted the adventure of exploring a place that is completely different, new, and where I had to learn how to live on my own and gain a sense of independence. Secondly, I find Japanese culture to be extremely fascinating. Particularly, I am a big fan of anime. Lastly, there are a lot of factors of Japanese society, namely the discipline and organization, that I wanted to learn from, and integrate in my daily life as standard practices.
Are you part of any clubs or language exchange?
Currently I am part of the language exchange program, in which I teach Portuguese to a Japanese student interested in the language. I am also a manager for the American Football club, where I help out the other managers during practices and games.
What is your impression of the Case Study Method? Did you have any experience at high school with this style?
Previously, I haven't had any contact with the case method, NUCB was the first time I was exposed to this teaching method. So far, the opinion I have is that it provides a lot of valuable practical knowledge. I have learned many important business terms, and have put my critical thinking skills to the test during the class discussions.
What dormitory are you in, what do you think of it?
I am a resident of Meito dormitory, and am very pleased with my accommodation. The location is convenient, because we are exactly in the middle between the school and the city center. My dorm room has everything I need, and it is very spacious. It allows me to cook, study, and relax after a long day of classes. I have tried my best to make it very homey, investing in some desk decor, and cute pillowcases.
