Camila, Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia

Camila (Colombia)

Meet Camila Paez - or simply Cami! Originally from Colombia, she is currently a third-year student at Universidad de Los Andes and is spending an exciting exchange semester at NUCB Undergraduate School. Passionate about discovering new cultures, Cami is enjoying life in Japan through meeting people from around the world, exploring Japanese culture, and developing her communication skills. Outside of class, she loves traveling, trying new food, and capturing memories through photography.

What attracted you to Japan and NUCB?

I was attracted to Japan because of its culture, technology, and unique lifestyle. I chose NUCB Undergraduate School for its international environment and the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds while growing academically and personally.

Is there a Japanese food, custom, or habit that you’ve come to enjoy the most?

I’ve really enjoyed Japanese convenience stores and how organized and respectful daily life is in Japan. I also love sushi and ramen.

How would you describe the classroom experience?  How about the campus experience?

The classes are very interactive, especially with case discussions and group activities. The atmosphere is friendly and international, so it’s easy to share ideas and learn from different perspectives. The campus is modern and comfortable, with a welcoming atmosphere. There are many opportunities to join activities, meet international students, and enjoy student life.

What advice would you give to students who are nervous about living abroad for the first time?

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Living abroad can feel scary at first, but it becomes an amazing experience if you stay open-minded and try new things.
