Please introduce yourself

My name is Poe Chit Myat Thae, and I am from Myanmar. I am in my sophomore year of the Global BBA program at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business.

Why did you want to study in Japan?

I came to Japan to study in 2023, and many people have asked me why I chose Japan. My main reason is that Japan offers a unique blend of modern innovation and rich tradition, which has always fascinated me. Most importantly, Japan is known for its high-quality education and safe, well-organized society—making it an ideal place for international students.
Since coming here, I’ve had the chance to not only improve my language skills but also grow personally by experiencing a new culture firsthand. Living and studying in Japan has opened up many opportunities for me, both academically and professionally, and I feel more confident about pursuing my goals in an international environment.

Where did you first hear of NUCB? What made you choose the Global BBA Program?

I first heard about NUCB while studying at my Japanese language school. My homeroom teacher recommended it to me because I was interested in pursuing a business major. I decided to attend the open campus, and during the university tour, I was really impressed by the facilities and the overall environment. The administrative staff introduced the Global BBA program and explained the unique case study method used in classes, which immediately caught my interest. I was also drawn to the fact that NUCB has many partner schools around the world—something that really appealed to me as someone who hopes to continue studying abroad in the future.

Are you working part-time or planning to?

Currently, I live in Nagoya and commute to school every day by bus and train. I also work various part-time jobs to maintain and improve my Japanese skills while balancing my studies at NUCB.

Are you taking Japanese lessons - how is your language coming on?

I’m planning to take the JLPT N1 this December, and I feel that my language skills are improving day by day. Working in customer service at my part-time job has really helped me enhance my communication skills through daily interactions with Japanese customers.
