Please introduce yourself

Hello, my name is Mike. I’m a first-year Global BBA student from Indonesia, and I began my studies at NUCB in Fall 2024.

What is your impression of the case study method? Have you ever experienced this style in high school?

My first impression of the case study method was surprising! While I did have a few classes using this method during my senior year in high school, I didn’t expect the level of preparation required here. For instance, before each class, we do individual preparation, which involves reading the case thoroughly and answering specific questions posed by the professor.

How will the case method / NUCB network help you for your future?

I believe the case study method will be incredibly valuable for my future, as it develops critical thinking skills that help you approach real-world challenges from multiple perspectives. This method pushes us to put ourselves in the shoes of others and apply what we know to find practical solutions. As for the NUCB network, it’s a great resource, connecting students to alumni around the world in various companies. Just recently, I spoke with Professor Hakeem, who provided insights on an NUCB alumnus working at Toyota. The conversation was informative and motivating as I think about my own career path.

What is your favorite facility on campus?

My favorite facility on campus is the golf driving range, located next to the American football field. Although the gymnasium was under renovation when I enrolled and I couldn’t play basketball, I found new interests, including golf. NUCB’s facilities are ideal for beginners, even offering a golf club to help students improve their skills.

What do you think of the diversity at NUCB?

One of the best things about NUCB is its diversity. The range of nationalities among students and professors is incredible, creating a truly international environment. This diversity makes it easy to learn about different cultures and broadens our perspectives, both in and out of the classroom.

Do you have any advice for those considering NUCB?

For prospective NUCB students, I’d advise always preparing in advance for classes. Since NUCB uses the case study method, it’s essential to read and analyze each case beforehand. Both professors and classmates will expect you to discuss and propose solutions to the case problems, so coming prepared will make the class discussions more rewarding.
