Please introduce yourself

My name is Victoria. I am Filipino. I joined NUCB in April 2024.

Why did you want to study in Japan?

I chose to study in Japan because I see it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse myself in a culture I truly admire. I’m especially interested in Japanese business practices, where I’ve noticed a strong focus not only on results but also on the process behind them. I believe the best way to learn is by experiencing it firsthand.

How will the case method / NUCB network help you for your future?

The case method differs from traditional lectures by encouraging student-led discussions. It has helped me build critical thinking and decision-making skills through real-world business scenarios, where I analyze, discuss, and defend my ideas. This hands-on approach prepares me early for the challenges of a future career in business.

What do you think of the diversity of NUCB? (students and professors)

Pursuing further education alongside individuals coming from diverse backgrounds and cultures here at NUCB has exposed me to a number of perspectives and opinions. I believe this encourages the exchange of global perspectives and helps students like me develop a broader worldview. In today’s interconnected and dynamic business world, I believe having such cultural knowledge and awareness is especially essential.

Do you have any advice for those considering NUCB?

For those considering NUCB, I believe the most important mindset is to approach the experience with excitement rather than fear—try to be more excited than scared! While easier said than done, there’s so much to look forward to: from gaining valuable knowledge through the case method and international interactions, to experiencing everyday life in Japan.
