Please introduce yourself

My name is Austin, I’m married and we have a son. We have lived in many places, but most recently we moved from Texas, USA.

Why did you want to study in Japan?

I spent a few years in Tokyo when I was younger and both my wife and I fell in love with Japan. We love the food and how polite everyone is to each other.

Where did you first hear of NUCB? What made you choose the Global BBA Program? How was the application process?

I found it while searching online for universities in Japan that accept my GI Bill scholarship. I liked that the application process included an interview with a faculty member. It was great to learn about NUCB and the case method from someone who understood them both so well. The Incoming Student team was also very helpful with sharing information and explaining how to complete the application forms.

How will the case method / NUCB network help you for your future?

The case method gives you some experience with lots of situations in business, this will help when I face similar situations while at my future job. The NUCB network helps you form connections to many other professionals in Japan. So far I have met students who returned after graduation to share their key insights with the newest students. I have also made some connections with some of the major businesses in Japan through NUCB.

Are you taking Japanese lessons — how is your language coming on?

I was taking the first four NUCB Japanese language courses during the first two semesters. I am also serious about reaching N2 proficiency, so I spend most of my breaks learning more on my own.
