Please introduce yourself

My name is Toshihiro. I am Japanese. I am a first-year student at NUCB.

What made you decide to study business in English instead of choosing a Japanese-taught program?

In Japan, there is a huge demand for labor capable of communicating in English at a business level. As more companies look to internationalize and foreign firms rush to establish their Japanese branches, the demand is here to stay. The Global BBA program is a perfect fit for those looking to challenge their limits and transform their career, especially for Japanese students.

Why did you choose NUCB?

The Global BBA — a business program taught in English, shines in the diversity of its student body, which is made up of students from over 60 countries. This diversity provides an excellent environment for open-ended discussions, where plenty of inspiration and new insights are born, adding to the overall learning experience. I chose NUCB because I believe this environment will help me be more global-minded and expand my potential.

How did you prepare for studying in English before entering NUCB?

In high school, I worked on my English skills through a specialized course, where all the teachers were native speakers of English. There, I learned the language both inside and outside the classroom by using the tools they gave me. Thanks to their help, I succeeded in raising my TOEIC score substantially and improving my English proficiency. After graduating from high school, I worked full-time for two and a half years. Although the work didn’t require English, I kept it in my daily life by reading English news and communicating with my friends abroad.

Do you think more Japanese students should consider joining English-based programs like this one? Why or why not?

Studying in the Global BBA program can open up significantly more career opportunities and lead to a higher starting salary—about ¥500,000 more in the first year. The program provides a strong foundation for those aiming for a global career.
As the program is fully taught in English, English skills are essential—a minimum of 750 (preferably 800+) on the TOEIC, as well as good speaking and writing skills.
However, those who are interested in business management and are ready to take on a challenge should find great growth and fulfillment through their studies.
