Before you came, what originally attracted you to choose a course of study at the NUCB Graduate School?

NUCB having dual accreditation and also located in a very safe and developed country really attracted me. My selection criteria was that being from Canada I want to study abroad but at the same time after my study I want a degree that is internationally recognized and at the same time I want to be studying in a country where it is culturally different than my hometown and Japan and NUCB fits perfectly.
Which elements of the GLP programme do you find especially beneficial?
I think the cultural diversity, the age diversity of the students and the students are all coming from different background and industry is really interesting and at the same time, the course selection at the school the GLP program doesn't have a lot of core courses that are required as mandatory course so students are given a lot of freedom as to what they want to study and they can pick the courses according to their own interests.
How do you prepare for your in-class activities, for example business case discussions?
This school uses, the majority of the classes use the case based approach and the students are asked to read the case in advance and it's very important because it actually outbreak the class. So if all the students come prepared, the class would be very interesting and entertaining and engaging. To prepare, you really got to read the case in details and in addition to that is do some external research related to the topics, related to the companies, related to the industry. At the same time this school actually taught us that it is also important to look at what is not written in the case as much as what is in the case and explore why the case doesn't tell you and go and do some research on what is the missing piece in the puzzle.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
I would recommend prospective students to keep an open mind. Coming to learn in a country and in a culture that is completely different than yours might be challenging at first but as long as you keep an open mind and absorb as much as you can and know that you learn as much in the classroom I suppose outside the classroom although it might be challenging at first but it's proven to be very rewarding experience after the first initial phase.
